Community Connection Centre

The Community Connection Centre offers free of charge services in the Prince Albert area to assist individuals in settling in their new community. The goal of the Centre is to link clients with the vast array of community services and programs in Prince Albert, while offering clients direct support.

Programs and Services

• Focuses on addressing settlement barriers (e.g. housing and connecting with needed services in the community) of Canadians moving to Prince Albert for education and employment opportunities.
• Offer employment supports to obtain and/or maintain employment
• Provide appropriate referrals and access to community resources and services
• Support client with achieving goals to successfully integrate into the community
• Services are available for everyone, not just newcomers, who have barriers to obtaining and/or maintaining employment
• Employment exploration, one-on-one counselling
• Goal setting and action plan writing
• Resume, cover letter writing assistance
• Interviewing skills and practice
• Community referrals to address other barriers to employment (anger management, addictions, parenting skills, etc)
• Employment supports for eligible participants (safety tickets, work clothing, bus pass, etc)
• Assistance in applying for continuing education (ABE, literacy or diploma program).
The Dollars & Sense Project is a collaborative initiative led by YWCA Canada, in partnership with 11 regional YWCAs across the country, to improve financial literacy for low-income women and gender diverse people. The project will weave financial literacy and empowerment activities into multiple existing programs offered by MAs to address participants’ needs and improve their economic circumstances and financial knowledge.

This project is not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about fostering financial confidence and resilience within our community.

Newcomer Settlement Services Program

• Support newcomers who seek assistance to resolve issues or barriers in their path to successful settlement
• Help navigating government documents such as those from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
• Assist in obtaining social insurance number (SIN) cards, Saskatchewan health cards and photo ID
• Referrals to other service providers so clients have access to all available programs
• Welcoming and assisting newcomers to Canada
• Access to information and referrals to programs and services offered in the community such as language assessments and training, employment programs, immigration, health, schools, and etc.
• Access to immigration information
• Over-the-phone Interpretation Services (Language Line Solutions) to better serve our clients using their first/native language when necessary
• Navigation of Prince Albert
• On-site access to computers, photocopier, printer, fax and phone
• Working with employers
• Assist in issues related to settlement of newcomer
• Provide assistance and/or advice during the settlement process for new employees
• Support employers’ need to welcome newcomers and immigrants to their place of employment

Employment Support Program for Youth

The Employment Support Program for Youth (ESP4Youth) provides career preparation and skill building programming to at-risk youth, ages sixteen to twenty-nine, who experience multiple barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment.

The program emulates aspects of the workplace environment, provides participants with firsthand experience with workplace expectations about attendance, wage entitlements and the opportunity to develop critical life and employment skills in the areas of budgeting, reliability and punctuality.

Youth will be provided with the skills and confidence needed to successfully transition into the workforce as well as develop the independence to maintain employment.

Interested participants must apply to be registered for the program and must be:

· legally entitled to work in Saskatchewan;

· between 16 and 29 years of age and;

· face multiple barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment.
