As part of YWCA Canada’s commitment to violence prevention initiatives for girls and young women, Power of Being a Girl™ is a signature leadership conference for girls ages 12-17, hosted during YWCA’s Week Without Violence™. This unique program responds to individual community needs and is coordinated by local YWCA Member Associations. Power of Being a Girl™offers a day of fun in a safe and moderated environment with informative and educational programming on a variety of topics which focus on girls' developmental needs to prevent violence in their lives while encouraging leadership in the planning and organization of the event. Workshops focus on a variety of issues including self-esteem, healthy relationships, dating, discrimination, body image, sexual health, bullying and Internet safety, among others. Girls leave the conference excited about what they learned, anxious to share with their friends and show an interest in attending other YWCA programs.
Please stay tuned for more information on our upcoming conference which will be held in October of 2017.
